Festivities of the Fourth

Saturday, we all had dinner and games at my parents, and played outside. Maci was a crazy baby constantly running around the entire house! She was having so much fun exploring!

We played frisbee, horseshoes and just played with Ash and Maci!
Once it dusk came we started smoke bombs, parachutes, then as it got darker the sparklers and other goodies. Ash loved the Pop-its.  He seems to have sensitive hearing, (and has for a long time) and had his ears covered all the time, but still had a big smile on his face. Here, he's stomping on pop-its!
Maci was sooo curious! It was fun to watch her. She was so excited, but already knew to keep a safe distance. She had a permanent 'oooo' on her lips and was in absolute awe of everything!
Ash and his sparkler.

Sunday the 4th we went back to my parents' house in the evening for the annual neighborhood BBQ and fireworks. Many neighbors get together and potluck food and have a great dinner, socializing, and all the fireworks together. So we spent some time playing at my parents house before the BBQ started.
Maci in her cute (garage sale--50 cents!) dress!

Ash practicing riding the trike, he still doesn't get pushing with his legs, he uses his body's momentum to move forward, or just puts his feet to the ground.

Daddy and Mace watching the fireworks!

Here's a pic with the permanent 'oooo' on the lips!

Monday the 5th is Hunter (and uncle Jon's) Birthday! We had a late breakfast! They grilled french toast on kabobs (the bread was in 2inch chunks-and mine we did traditionally of course for fear of crumbling).  Hunter's one request for his Bday, was that he had all 72 candles!!! So my sil creatively got zingers, left them in the wrappers, and poke holes in the top to put the candles in!
These were just the left overs (I think they were planning to mail them to Jon who is 32!)
Then on to the traditional 3rd Annual Lasso Gold Tournament!  We were paired off based on our previous scores from the earlier summer and spring games. I am always at the bottom of the bunch, I am not good, and Jeff is average. But for some strange reason I won each round and slowly advanced to the semi finals and the finals!
Griffin and me in the 2010 Hale's Annual Lasso Golf Tournament
Griffin has won with flying colors that past two years, and usually whoops us all very easily, but I beat him! (again, not to my own talent, in the first round, Griffin scored a 17, and in the finals against me, only 10. The final score was 13-10 Katie! So the above picture is Griffin bestowing on me the headband which is signed and dated by the champion. So funny!  I was ready to retire after this match, but I guess every champion has to go down sometime! Griffin can't wait for next year!
