Last night upon going to bed, we discovered the savage murder of our alarm clock. We can't figure out when, but we discovered the cause of the untimely death. It had been brutally sprayed repeatedly by a bottle of Febreeze. We didn't think it smelled bad at all, let alone deserved such a gruesome and slow death. The screen had liquid behind it and was hardly legible, and none of the buttons worked. We unplugged it. It said it was low on back up battery power, and the lights went off. However the final screams of its horrible death weren't heard until this morning, when the alarm sounded. None of the buttons would work, and it was already unplugged, so to end its misery and ours, the only way to get it to stop, was to slam it hard on the floor. (Note we live in the basement, so under the carpet was solid cement) We figured it was quicker that way, however our first attempt at silencing the woeful cries by pulling out the batteries was unsuccessful because they too were sticky and wet with that overwhelming scent of Febreeze. May it rest in peace. It was a wonderful alarm clock, with multiple abilities, sounds and even a compact disc player. Unfortunately the morning period cannot last long, as we need an alarm clock better than a cell phone, so we must purchase one this weekend. It is preceded in death by the VCR, DVD player, ipod shuffle*, and laptop (we have dealt with a lot of digital and technological death this year). Survived by the iMac, new dvd player, camera and television.
*please note that the ipod shuffle is the only one that wasn't murdered by the toddler or baby, it simply met its demise due to old age and lots of love
